I was really looking forward to this book and for the most part it didn't disappoint. My problem with this book was I felt some things were incomplete or never got a satisfying ending. *Spoilers* The ex was a ho, but what was the whole point of the issue with the brother? Other than wanting to laugh in Kenneth's face because he's stuck with a cheater, it led to nothing. It seemed like the ex's were going to try to cause problems, but not a peep was made. Truth's problems with his father were huge, then he was never mentioned again. Verity had issues with her mother that seemed like they might lead to something, but once again, not one mention. The bad guy never seemed real, it never felt like they were even looking for him until Verity was hurt. Then they had him five minutes later. Also, what happened in the hospital? How did bad dude (sorry, can't remember his name) not only get out of his bed that he was handcuffed to and was guarded, get into Verity's room that was guarded and have some sort of lethal syringe that he was able to stab her with? He was pretty injured, yet he was able to sneak around a hospital filled with biker/cops? Unanswered questions leave readers unfulfilled. As a couple, Truth and Verity were fantastic. They seemed perfect for each other. I just don't like finishing a book and feeling I don't have all the answers.Tags : Son of a Beard (The Dixie Wardens Rejects MC Book 3) - Kindle edition by Lani Lynn Vale. Son of a Beard The Dixie Wardens Rejects MC Book 3 edition by Lani Lynn Vale Romance eBooks Reviews
Good stuff. I may not like everyone in this world but I wish all of them a HEA love that fulfills them & makes them better souls. Not perfect but better. This book continues the wounded warriors theme and Ms Vale has delivered once again good characters and a good story. Her writing is so consistent & entertaining that I just buy new releases automatically.
3.5 stars
Another good installment in The Dixie Wardens Rejects MC series.
I liked Truth. I liked Verity. And I liked them together.
*Loved the wedding toast Truth gave. What I would give to witness that in person! Kenneth & Destiny totally deserved it.
*Loved Truth's job. It was unique & oh-so sexy.
*Loved Verity's BFF, Randi. Them working out at the gym & the "v***** fumes" was so funny.
*Loved how the bloody hospital scene got my heart pumping a million miles a minute.
Honestly though, I'm getting a bit tired of the whole Hero pushing the heroine away for her safety thing as a plot device. The guy doesn't wanna do it but feels like it's the only way, the girl can feel it coming, the guy says some nasty things to her, she gets angry &/or embarrassed, etc, etc, etc. *sigh* Thank gods the separation doesn't usually last too long! #MakeUpSexRocks
After all is said & done, I'm still feeling confused when it comes to the Destiny/Kenneth/Eugene situation though. There wasn't any real resolution to part of their story (besides the big thing that happened to one of them) & that kinda bugged me.
But for the love of all things chocolate-covered... I can't take the tease that is Ghost! Forget Seanshine, forget Jesse James. I. NEED. GHOST. Why, oh, why is he the last one to get a book?! Gah!!
Side Note "You're rubber, I'm glue. Eat s*** and f*** you. - Verity's very adult thoughts"... #priceless! ) Still LOVE these chapter headings.
I adore Lani Lynn Vale’s books, and they never fail to disappoint me. Each month, like clockwork, I know I’m going to get something special within the pages of her newest book. I am not only a fan of her work, but I am also constantly impressed by her gift for turning out wildly creative, sexy and humorous stories so consistently and with such regularity. Son of a Beard is the third book in this series, and while it can be read as a standalone, the first two books were just as fabulous as this book, and you’d be doing yourself a disservice by skipping them.
Son of a Beard drew me in right from the start with an emotional one-two punch of anger and heartbreak. An action-packed, suspenseful romance with a splash of drama, Truth and Verity’s story was as entertaining as it was exciting. They’d both been through so much, it was virtually impossible not to root for this couple. Their initial meeting was perfect and exactly how you’d want it to play out given the circumstances. But following a wild weekend getaway, they learn—months later—that what happens in Vegas doesn’t always stay there.
This couple’s attraction was instantaneous, and their chemistry undeniable, a charge of electricity sparking between them. Lust wasn’t all they had right from the start, though, their back and forth banter was natural, organic and one of things I loved most about their relationship. Truth had been through a lot in his life, and trust and love were not things that came easily or were given freely by him. But when this big, gruff biker allowed his walls to fall, he loved deep and hard. Verity was one smart woman. She knew that Truth was it for her, and despite his repeated attempts to push her away, she just pushed her way back to him harder, showing him that they were meant to be together. I loved that push-and-pull, that will-they-or-won’t-they between them. Theirs wasn’t an easy road to travel, but it all came together to make their eventual arrival there sweeter.
In addition to a hard-fought romance, this story had an intriguing suspense plot along with some added drama courtesy of both of their exes. But Vale is no stranger to a complex plot line, and she forged Son of a Beard into a richly developed, well plotted, engaging story that kept me at the edge of my seat the whole time. I love this author’s unique sense of humor, and it was used liberally in this book. Vale is brilliantly adept at finding and capitalizing on the levity in almost any situation. She has this innate ability to turn an ordinary, everyday moment into something extraordinary with either her comical take on it, an outrageous slapstick type response or even just some of her naturally dry, slightly sarcastic commentary. Make no mistake, though, Truth and Verity had a lot of emotional baggage to overcome, some danger to diffuse and exes to deal with on the way to their happily ever after, but it was one heck of an exhilarating, smoking hot and amusing ride.
The Heroes of the Dixie Wardens MC series is one of my favorite series of hers, so it’s not surprising that I’m loving the spin-off Dixie Wardens Rejects series. I loved Truth and Verity’s story so much. It’s classic Vale, through and through, but just a bit sharper and edgier. A wonderful addition to a fantastic series, Son of a Beard by Lani Lynn Vale gets five smooches from me!
