A Dangerous Engagement The Regency Spies of London Book 3 edition by Melanie Dickerson Romance eBooks
This was the third book in Melanie Dickerson's Regency Spies trilogy. (At least...I think it's a trilogy. I haven't heard anything about another coming out.) As usual, Mrs. Dickerson has written an amazing story! I loved Felicity and it was wonderful to get to see more of her, to get in her head. I liked that she wasn't all amazing at everything with stellar skills and endless courage. She was terrified! But she chose to do what was right. Her heart led her and she was human. She had faults and battles to wage with herself. I also really enjoyed McDowell. He made me smile a lot. They were a sweet pair. I've always grown attached to Dickerson's characters and this story was no exception. The seashell grotto was a nifty thing to weave into the setting. The regency era is one of my favorites, though not my very very favorite, and Dickerson does it justice in my opinion. The plot was riveting, especially toward the end. I was HOOOOKED. I kinda flipped my lid a little at the end cause I was so into it. :D I wasn't sure how it was going to end!Dickerson always does a superb job with any violence, keeping it appropriate. There is no foul language, and she keeps her romances sweet and clean. Although, there was quite a bit of kissing in this one as compared to some of her others ;-) I rather liked the whole idea that Felicity was forced to playact with Ratley.
All in all, not my favorite Dickerson book (those would be Hagenheim!!!), but certainly an excellent read!

A Dangerous Engagement The Regency Spies of London Book 3 edition by Melanie Dickerson Romance eBooks Reviews
Another fine book by a great author. Melanie Dickerson does well at filling my book needs. This one had an interesting set of characters. Felicity and Philip work well together. Ratley is a strange character. I kept wondering what he would do next. A rat for sure. And I couldn't believe her aunt. What a kooky lady!
The story was very interesting and kept my attention. Moved along quickly and kept me guessing how they would get out of the situations they found themselves in. It was great as a stand alone.
When Felicity Mayson is invited to a house party by Lady Blackstone, who is sort of related to her, she isn't actually looking forward to going. When she gets there, however, she's flattered by the attentions of Oliver Ratley, who makes it clear that he doesn't care that Felicity, as one of thirteen children, doesn't have a dowry. When he proposes, she's a bit surprised but she accepts...only to realize soon after that not only does she not truly want to marry him but she also doesn't want to be anywhere near him. Mr. Ratley and Lady Blackstone are leading a group plotting revolution--and Felicity wants no part in it. Afraid for her life if the revolutionaries realize she isn't sympathetic to their cause, Felicity doesn't know how she can escape. Philip McDowell, sent by the Home Office to infiltrate the revolutionaries, hoping that Felicity is trustworthy, encourages her to continue to act as if she wants to marry Mr. Ratley and glean from him the information the Home Office needs in order to protect their country. Although she's terrified, Felicity agrees to help spy on the group, and as she does so, she finds herself more and more horrified by her engagement to Mr. Ratley and more and more drawn to Philip.
This was a highly enjoyable Regency romance with some suspense thrown in. I found the revolutionary aspect of the plot to be original and interesting. I liked both Felicity and Philip and enjoyed seeing their growing feelings for each other.

About this book
“Just as merchant’s daughter Felicity Mayson is spurned once again because of her meager dowry, she receives an unexpected invitation to Lady Blackstone’s country home. Being introduced to the wealthy Oliver Ratley is an admitted delight, as is his rather heedless yet inviting proposal of marriage. Only when another of Lady Blackstone’s handsome guests catches Felicity’s attention does she realize that nothing is what it seems at Doverton Hall.
Government agent Philip McDowell is infiltrating a group of cutthroat revolutionaries led by none other than Lady Blackstone and Ratley. Their devious plot is to overthrow the monarchy, and their unwitting pawn is Felicity. Now Philip needs Felicity’s help in discovering the rebels’ secrets—by asking her to maintain cover as Ratley’s innocent bride-to-be.
Philip is duty bound. Felicity is game. Together they’re risking their lives—and gambling their hearts—to undo a traitorous conspiracy before their dangerous masquerade is exposed.”

Ooooh, Felicity is a spy as well in this novel like Julia was in the first book of this series! While I didn’t enjoy this one as much as the second book, I did still really enjoy it! I was for sure hooked into the plot about two pages in because Felicity had already won me over completely due to that fact she’s learn Chinese and is thinking about the idea of becoming a missionary in China. Love her! I also thought it was interesting that she’s number 12 of 13 children in her family. The whole plot had adrenaline running throughout it, which kept me fully involved in the story. It was a bit kissy-er than other books by this author, but that was because of the dangerous engagement. ;)
I’m so sad that this series is over now, but it was such a pleasant and enjoyable series by Melanie Dickerson!
*BFCG may (Read the review to see) recommend this book by this author. It does not mean I recommend all the books by this author.
*I received this book for free from the Author for this honest review.
